The Tainanmen Square Protest in 1989, also called June 4th Movement by Chinese, is a demonstration of courage and hope on the part of the Chinese people. It has left an indelible imprint in the history of mankind. This book is compiled in the hope of carrying forward the June Fourth spirit and legacy, further eradicating the autocratic social system, and achieving democracy, freedom, equality and fraternity in China.
The book is a collection of poems and lyrics written by June Fourth victims, pro-democratic activists, and international friends. In five chapters, it records the history of the June Fourth movement, and its cultural dimensions.
The editor wishes the publication of this collection could remind people of the past, and urge them to work for a bright future for China.
